Kappa Chi’s Annual Haunted House

A tradition across the neighborhood

2024 Haunted House Coming Soon!

Check back here in fall for theme, time, and more details about this year's haunted house.

Every year, the brothers of Kappa Chi give back to the San Luis Obispo community by transforming the house at Upham into a fully themed haunted house. The house has a different theme each year, and is open to the public with free admission. As an example, 2022’s theme was “Fear Farm” and the year before’s theme was “Haunted Carnival”. To give back to the community even more, visitors are given the option to donate to a chosen charity, such as Jack's Helping Hand, which helps local children with special medical needs access activities that they would be otherwise unable to be provided.

As the primary philanthropy event that Kappa Chi puts on, a lot of pride goes into the construction of the haunted house. Fully decorated rooms and fully costumed brothers help create the full experience of a haunted house. The house is designed to be friendly for guests of all ages, so people young and old can receive a good fright! After visitors make their way through the house, they are treated to a complimentary barbecue hosted in the backyard, with food, beverages, and Halloween candy.
